One of my favorite quiet, rustic, and refined winery hidden among rolling hills, vineyards, and olive trees.

Our next stop was Solvang, which remains our favorite place to stay when visiting the Santa Ynez Valley. Its charm always reminds me a little of Europe. As the sommelier I am, I couldn’t resist revisiting one of my favorite Chardonnay producers from this region.

Rancho Sisquoc is located in a quiet, sun-washed valley tucked between rolling hills and a charming, rustic environment. Over the past forty years, I’ve witnessed the remarkable progress this winery has made. Their Sylvaner and Chardonnay continue to delight my palate, and this time,

I was pleasantly surprised by their reds. Though lighter in body, they are wonderfully enjoyable on a warm day. We spent a lovely afternoon on their patio sampling the red wine flight, surrounded by the serene beauty of their improved grounds, now offering a truly pleasant tasting experience for both individuals and larger groups.

Naturally, we left with bottles of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. A proper tasting at home will follow before ordering in larger quantities, as I’ve learned that wines can reveal different nuances once enjoyed in a familiar setting. After all, our taste buds can easily lose precision after a full day of tasting adventures.

One last thing I will share is a lighthearted moment from this experience. I was told the ladies’ restroom was “just around the corner,” but I quickly discovered that reaching it required a small adventure along a beautifully designed, winding path.

If you’re in a hurry, you may want to pick up the pace; otherwise, enjoy the scenic walk. And this lovely cart awaited me, reminding me of the unique charm this place truly has.
I will finish by inviting you to check Rancho Sisquoc Winery, history, and wines at Home - Rancho Sisquoc Winery.
